Damascus, December 8, 2024, corresponding to 26 Jumada al-Awwal 1446
The Arab Council extends its heartfelt congratulations to the great Syrian people on the victory of their will and the collapse of the dictatorial regime that had long oppressed them, committing massacres and brutal violations against hundreds of thousands of Syrians.
On this occasion, we pay tribute to the souls of all the righteous martyrs who fell during the Syrian people’s journey towards liberation. We salute the resilience of all the prisoners who were freed, including those who spent the prime of their lives behind bars under the harshest and most inhumane conditions, as well as the millions of displaced individuals scattered across the globe by the criminal regime. We also honor the countless individuals who endured hell for decades under the rule of the Ba’ath Party.
The Arab Council expresses its great pride in the successful journey of the Syrian revolution, the wise discourse that safeguarded the unity of Syria, the commitment to ensuring the safety, security, and freedom of all components of the beloved Syrian nation, and the avoidance of revenge and retaliation.
We are confident that the forces of the Syrian revolution will continue to unite every inch of Syrian territory under the authority of a democratic, just state with full sovereignty that guarantees freedoms, equality among citizens, and the establishment of good governance in managing the country’s wealth.
The Arab Council affirms that this great victory will undoubtedly serve as the starting point for a new wave of the Arab Spring—one that is more mature, wiser, and determined to end both internal tyranny and external colonization. We advise the various regimes in the region to learn from the fate of the tyrant of Damascus, who defied the will of his people by relying on oppression, murder, and foreign powers, only to end up fleeing in isolation after being abandoned by all.
This is a great victory that history will record for the people of the Levant, and it will have an impact on the nation and the entire world.
Praise be to God, abundant praise.
On behalf of the Arab Council
President Moncef Marzouki
