The results of the sham presidential election organized by the Egyptian regime have been announced, in which all forms of fraud, exclusion, manipulation of public will, and violations of the neutrality of state institutions were carried out.

The announced results are in line with the approach of authoritarian regimes that inflate participation figures and downplay the results of token competitors who were chosen to create the illusion of pluralism, after excluding candidates with any real credibility. Serious contenders were removed through security harassment, unjust judicial rulings, and other forms of oppression.

The Arab Council views this illegitimate election as yet another chapter in the power grab by an authoritarian ruler, devoid of legitimacy, who has failed miserably in managing the country, manipulating the electoral process, and falsifying the will of the people.

The Arab Council also affirms that the results of this election, and the expected acceptance by regional and international powers, especially amid the ongoing war on Egypt’s borders, are indicators of their approval of the role played by the winner of this rigged election and his regime in containing the Palestinian people, who face the gravest genocide in modern history, and supporting Israel’s objectives in Gaza.

The Arab Council calls upon political, social, and youth forces in Egypt to coordinate efforts to restore the democratic path as the only way to regain national sovereignty, economic revival, and societal stability.

The Arab Council Dr. Moncef Marzouki
