The Arab Council expresses its complete condemnation of the actions carried out by the Israeli occupation forces last night, which included storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque, desecrating its premises, brutally assaulting the worshippers, arresting hundreds of Palestinians, preventing thousands from entering the mosque’s courtyards, and obstructing ambulances from evacuating the injured.
The Council considers this heinous crime, along with the storming of Al-Aqsa’s courtyards by extremist settlers under heavy guard from the occupation forces, to be a dangerous provocation. It reflects the extreme and barbaric nature of the occupation and the sense of impunity that the occupiers feel in the absence of strong international reactions to the repeated assaults against the Palestinian people and their holy sites.
In light of the official Arab silence and the continued normalization processes, even alliances with the occupation authorities in several Arab countries, without any regard for the violations of Palestinian rights and the sanctities of the Ummah, the Arab Council calls on the Arab peoples to engage in peaceful popular movements in rejection of these repeated crimes. They must show solidarity with our steadfast Palestinian people and preserve the values of dignity and solidarity among the peoples of this endangered Ummah.
Signed,
The Arab Council
President Moncef Marzouki
