In recent weeks, there has been a series of random killings of Palestinians in various areas of the West Bank, Gaza, and occupied territories, carried out by elements of the Israeli army or police. The latest of these crimes was the cold-blooded execution of Palestinian youth Ammar Adaily in the town of Hawara, south of Nablus, last Friday.

The Arab Council mourns the soul of the martyr Ammar and the souls of those who preceded him, offering condolences to their families and the Palestinian people in general.

The Council considers that these targeted killings without trial represent an official policy of the occupation state, in which successive governments have been complicit, while the world watches and listens without any accountability.

The Arab Council holds the international community responsible for protecting the Palestinian people from these heinous crimes, which violate the provisions of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Article 6 of the Covenant states, “No one shall be arbitrarily deprived of his life.”

The Council also holds the Arab officials who have accepted normalization with the apartheid state, which slides further into violence and racism daily, responsible before their people, their consciences, and history. The Council warns all the people of the world that such normalization is not related to peace but rather to surrender, which obligates only those who sign it and not the people and their future leaders.

The Council calls on the Arab peoples to uphold their rejection of all forms of normalization with a state that kills their Palestinian brothers with bullets at point-blank range.

Signed,
The Arab Council
President Moncef Marzouki
