The recent aggression on Gaza is yet another crime added to the series of crimes the Palestinian people, particularly our brothers and sisters in Gaza, have endured, who have suffered from an unprecedented blockade for fifteen consecutive years.
It is evident to all that this aggression is part of the political maneuvers by right-wing and far-right parties in preparation for the upcoming Israeli elections.
We are fully aware that Arab normalization has encouraged Israel to continue its policy of imposing the status quo and pursuing its strategy of equating peace with surrender.
It is also clear that our war-torn, oppressed, and impoverished peoples today are utterly unable to assist our Palestinian brothers and sisters, the last Arab people still enduring foreign occupation and living under an apartheid system.
It has long been apparent that the policy of double standards has severely undermined the credibility of the international community.
The Arab Council, fully aware of the futility of mere complaints, condemnations, and denunciations, wishes to:
- Proudly and honorably record the steadfastness of our people in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, and recognize that the lesson they are imparting to the peoples of our nation is stored in minds and hearts as a powerful force that will eventually erupt, whether the time is long or short, and will have consequences for those who believe in blind violence and absolute power.
- Bow in solemn respect to the victims of the defense of land and honor, with the list of martyrs growing by thirteen today.
- Wish a speedy recovery for the one hundred injured.
The Arab Council urgently calls on Arab governments that distinguish between peace and surrender, and that maintain the minimum level of national honor, to expedite providing Gaza with the material support it urgently needs, so that power generators do not cease, and thus all essential services, including hospitals, which the Palestinian Ministry of Health has stated may stop functioning due to electricity shortages within the next 72 hours.
On behalf of the Arab Council
Dr. Moncef Marzouki
