The Arab Council strongly condemns the crime committed by the Israeli occupation forces on Friday, April 15, 2022, when they flagrantly stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and attacked unarmed civilian worshipers. This assault resulted in the injury of dozens with varying degrees of injury and the arrest of many others.

This crime is part of a series of provocative and dangerous attacks carried out by the occupation forces and the settler hordes in several areas of the West Bank and occupied territories. These attacks have escalated during the holy month of Ramadan, leading to the martyrdom of an increasing number of Palestinian youths, in addition to widespread injuries and arrests among young men and women.

While condemning the official Arab silence regarding these crimes, and the continuation of normalization activities in several Arab capitals, without any regard for Israel’s violations of the sanctities of the nation and the rights of the Palestinian people, the Arab Council calls upon the Arab elites to take peaceful civil action across the Arab world in support of the Palestinian people and to bolster their steadfastness.

The Council also calls on the international community and its institutions to fulfill their humanitarian role in protecting Palestinian civilians, deterring the attacks against them, pressuring the Israelis to cease their assaults on the Palestinian people, their sanctities, and to release all detainees arrested in the recent brutal crackdowns.

Signed,
The Arab Council
President: Mohamed Moncef Marzouki
