The Arab Council expresses its deep concern over the escalating tensions between the neighboring countries of Algeria and Morocco, which threaten to worsen and may, God forbid, lead to confrontation.
The Council calls upon the leadership of the two brotherly countries, dear to the hearts of all Arabs, to calm down, exercise restraint, and extinguish the flames of strife that threaten to ignite the fire of war, disrupt stability in the region, and fuel hatred.
The Council believes it is the duty of the two brotherly peoples in Algeria and Morocco, along with their active forces—parliamentarians, political parties, organizations, youth movements, and others—to work towards containing the conflict between their countries and preventing the spread of division and enmity among their societies.
The Council also calls on the wise individuals within the Arab world to intervene diplomatically, to ease tensions and avoid the worst-case scenario. It emphasizes the importance of organizing popular and media events in various Arab countries to encourage understanding and harmony between the elites of the two brotherly peoples, aiming to contain the rising strife and promote dialogue as the sole path to overcoming differences.
On behalf of the Arab Council
