Today marks the tenth anniversary of the first spark of the Arab Spring revolutions, which inaugurated a new phase in the history of the Arab peoples after decades of oppression, dictatorship, and the loss of freedom, dignity, and sovereignty.
On this occasion, the Arab Council extends its condolences to the soul of martyr Mohamed Bouazizi and to all the martyrs of the Arab Spring in both its first and second waves. It salutes the families of the martyrs, the wounded of the revolutions, and all the active forces that participated in these uprisings, which aspired to change their reality and achieve their legitimate aspirations for a decent life, freedom, and dignity.
The Council believes that the failure of these revolutions to achieve their rightful goals was primarily due to the conspiracies and crimes carried out against them in various countries by the counter-revolutionary forces and corruption lobbies, supported by foreign countries and axes, led by the UAE-Saudi axis. These forces poured vast sums of money and mobilized all their resources to abort the dream of freedom for the people, resorting to all kinds of crimes, including mass killings, political assassinations, repression, siege, displacement, starvation, and brainwashing.
The Arab Council also believes that despite the tragedies, setbacks, and conflicts the peoples of the region have endured, the flames of these revolutions have not been extinguished. On the contrary, they have increased the people’s conviction in the value of freedom, dignity, and sovereignty. The pulse of these revolutions and their course will continue until the realization of all their goals and legitimate demands, even if it takes time.
On this occasion, the Council calls on all the peoples of the region to adhere to the peaceful, civil, democratic values of the Arab Spring, with hope for change and confidence in the victory of collective will over the alliance of evil between local vested interests and regional and international powers fearful of the liberation and unity of the peoples. The Council assures the people of the region that a third wave will inevitably come, during which the slogans of freedom, dignity, and justice will be realized. Our peoples are no less determined and resolute than those of other nations that have achieved emancipation, stability, and prosperity.
