The Arab Council expresses its strong condemnation of the crime committed by the Israeli occupying forces on Friday, April 15, 2022, when they flagrantly stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and assaulted peaceful, unarmed worshipers, resulting in the injury of dozens and the arrest of many others.
This crime is part of a series of provocative and dangerous attacks carried out by the occupation forces and the settler militias in various areas of the West Bank and occupied territories, which have escalated during the holy month of Ramadan. These attacks have led to an increasing number of Palestinian youths being martyred, in addition to numerous injuries and mass arrests among both young and old, men and women.
While the Arab Council condemns the official Arab silence in the face of these crimes, and the continuation of normalization activities in several Arab capitals without any concern for Israel’s violations of the nation’s sanctities and the rights of the Palestinian people, it calls on the Arab elites to take peaceful civilian action across the Arab world to support the Palestinian people and their steadfastness.
The Council also calls on the international community and its institutions to fulfill their humanitarian role in protecting Palestinian civilians, deterring attacks against them, and pressuring the Israelis to halt their assaults on the Palestinian people, their sacred sites, and to release all detainees from the recent crackdowns.
On behalf of the Arab Council
