The Arab Council salutes the determination and perseverance of the great Sudanese people in resisting the military coup and demanding, through all legitimate civil means, the return to civilian rule and the democratic system.

The Arab Council condemns the massacres and violations committed by the forces of Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the militias allied with him against unarmed civilians. The Council holds the coup regime fully responsible for the comprehensive political, economic, and social crisis the country has faced in recent months, including the collapse of the Sudanese pound, a dramatic rise in inflation, worsening poverty, the spread of hunger, and an increase in violence.

The Arab Council expresses its support for the position of the national and civil political forces that refuse to engage in a cosmetic dialogue that does not guarantee the return to the democratic path and aims only to relieve pressure on the military and perpetuate their dominance over the country and its resources. The Council urges them to block the military’s maneuvers regarding the dialogue.

The Arab Council calls on the supporters of freedom and justice worldwide to stand in solidarity with the peaceful struggle of the Sudanese people until they defeat the unjust military coup.

Signed,
The Arab Council
President Moncef Marzouki
