In light of the devastating earthquake that struck southern Turkey and northern Syria early this morning, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of citizens in both countries, with thousands more injured and significant damage, the toll is still expected to rise. The Arab Council expresses its deep solidarity with the Syrian and Turkish peoples, offering heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

The Council calls on the international community, and particularly the Arab countries, to urgently contribute to efforts to rescue the missing, assist those trapped, shelter those who have lost their homes, and activate the principles of Arab and humanitarian solidarity.

Our hearts are with the Syrian people, who are enduring this new hardship. We extend our best wishes for the return of stability, prosperity, and freedom to beloved Syria.
