The Strategic Litigation Gateway organized a training session as part of the empowerment, training, and legal accompaniment strategy of the Arab Council Foundation.

The session, held in Istanbul in mid-February 2024, lasted for one week and focused on the use of strategic litigation mechanisms. Participants learned about the application of both criminal and non-criminal litigation methods, as well as procedures for utilizing special mechanisms, the Universal Periodic Review, and filing complaints to the Human Rights Council.

The training saw the participation of 15 human rights defenders from 10 Arab countries: Palestine, Yemen, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon, Bahrain, Libya, Syria, and Sudan.

The executive management of the Arab Council Foundation also welcomed volunteers for the volunteer program, which will run for six months. During this period, the strategic litigation team will guide volunteers in preparing human rights complaints and communicating with special procedures at the Human Rights Council.
