On the occasion of the launch of the initiative “Dialogue of the Egyptian people around the world”, Sunday evening August 7, 2022, with the participation of dozens of political figures from the opposition abroad, representatives of political and social forces and Egyptian experts at home and abroad, the Arab Council expresses:
– Its appreciation for this pioneering initiative which reflects the level of awareness of the Egyptian opposition and its keen attachment to the interest of the country and to the adoption of dialogue as a method of resolving problems and crises. This initiative comes at a time when the promises made by the regime in place to organize a comprehensive national dialogue have proven to be misleading, and have proven that it has sunk deeper into closure, arrogance and isolation. People.
– Its appreciation of the awareness of the political forces of the opposition of the seriousness of the strategic challenges facing the Egyptian State, targeting its existence, threatening the stability of the Egyptian people in general and mortgaging its future. This initiative is a watershed moment that could establish a national consensus on a number of options that could lead Egypt out of a path of rapid deterioration in all areas for which the regime bears the greatest responsibility with its unilateral policies and its management, which lacks elements of justice, sovereignty, transparency, good governance and respect for the rights of future generations.
– Its hope that the popular dialogue, with its three components: political/social, economic/financial, as well as the component relating to development and national security, will succeed in finding solutions to the accumulated structural problems and the crises that the country is going through. Egypt, and to chart alternative strategic directions and a vision for a future Egypt. This will quickly open the door to real change in Egypt, supported by a broad political and popular consensus around structural and institutional reform programs built with Egyptian hands and will, and not imposed by external and internal government lobbies.
– Its certainty that this initiative would be a founding event not only in Egypt but in the entire Arab region. He will present a new model of participatory democracy representing the popular will in this context of deliberate perversion of representative democracy, the deliberate marginalization of the country’s skills, and total dependence on foreign wills.
The Egyptian Popular Dialogue will be Egypt’s gateway to a better future.
