The Strategic Litigation Portal at the Arab Council organized its third training course as part of its empowerment, training, and legal accompaniment strategy from October 13 to October 21, 2023, in Istanbul, Turkey.
The training focused on the use of strategic litigation mechanisms, where participants learned about both criminal and non-criminal legal approaches, along with mechanisms for utilizing special procedures, the Universal Periodic Review, and submitting complaints to the United Nations Human Rights Council.
A total of 19 human rights lawyers and activists from 11 Arab countries participated in the course, including representatives from Palestine, Yemen, Tunisia, Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Sudan, and Egypt.
The Executive Administration of the Arab Council welcomes volunteers for its six-month volunteer program. During this period, the strategic litigation team will work closely with volunteers to prepare human rights complaints and address special procedures at the Human Rights Council.
