April, 5th 2023The Arab Council expresses its full condemnation of the heinous crime committed by Israeli occupation forces yesterday in their invasion of Al-Aqsa Mosque, desecrating its grounds and brutally assaulting worshipers while arresting hundreds of Palestinians and preventing thousands from entering the Mosque’s courtyard. The Council considers this reprehensible crime, along with the accompanying invasion of extremist settlers into the Mosque’s courtyard under the strict guard of occupation forces, a dangerous provocative act that reflects the extent of the occupation’s extremism and brutality, as well as the lack of strict international responses against repeated attacks on the Palestinian people and their holy sites.

In light of the official Arab silence and the continuation of normalization and alliance paths with the occupying authority in more than one Arab state, without the slightest concern for the violation of the rights of the Palestinians and the holy sites of the nation, the Arab Council calls on the Arab peoples to engage in peaceful popular movements to reject these repeated crimes and to support our steadfast Palestinian people, in order to preserve the values of chivalry and solidarity among the peoples of this threatened nation.

Signed, President Moncef Marzouki, Arab Council.
